Since 1985, Margaret Mittelheuser AM (1931–2013) and Cathryn Mittelheuser AM have supported the acquisition of more than 100 works for the QAGOMA Collection, and their patronage places them among the Gallery’s most consistent and longstanding donors. The sisters’ generosity has touched many areas of the Collection, but has particularly enriched the Gallery’s holdings of Indigenous Australian art and works by women artists, including Lena Yarinkura, Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori, Mavis Ngallametta, Yvonne Koolmatrie and more.

This richly illustrated 112-page publication, which accompanies the exhibition of the same name at QAG, includes each of works that Cathryn and Margaret Mittelheuser have supported, and acknowledges their dedication to enriching the Collection. An essay by exhibition curator Diane Moon (Curator, Indigenous Fibre Art) highlights works in the group and elaborates on the sisters’ personal and professional achievements. The title also includes short biographical texts and a full list of works.
