OPEN CALL: VIEWS ON EDUCATION

From the Editors Montessa Maack & Jane Orme: It has been surprisingly heartening to spend the last few months talking with so many people about education, community, and the future. It seems we are all busy thinking about these things – and busy doing – with care and hard work. This is particularly so in education.

As a global community, we are facing hard times, and creating can feel fraught with tension. Yet, it is so important that we continue to tell the stories. Community is a word that is easy to throw around, and add to it the concept of future, and you have something that feels expansive but slippery. But we may be seeing community, the future, and education in new and positive ways. We felt a shift in the pages of this Journal, and how the issue came together.

A section of this issue of the Journal is also devoted to the coming Triennale in Walyalup (Fremantle) in October 2025. The Triennale is a hefty and meaningful labour of love (and dogged perseverance); it provides us with a significant chance to build our community and reflect on practice.
